Historically, the 20th century is an important period during w hi ch Chinese culture and education underwent three great changes that directed to the very center of education. The earliest one focused on “sovereign rights”dur ing the demoncratic revolution, and then the focus of education was “taking clas s strugyle as the Key link”during the socialist construction. Finally the fundam ental principle of education became“taking economic construction as center”in t he socialist period with Chinese characteristics. The main questions have been how to evaluate the traditional culture, how to deal with foreign culture and how t o make a positive integration of traditional culture and foreign culture.
