On the humane spirit of modern university from a historical perspective
摘要/Abstract
摘要：
人文精神和文化孕育并滋养了科学的产生与发展, 但科学的极度膨胀异化出的科学主义和工具主义, 导致了现代大学人文精神缺失和人文教育式微, 也使人类自身失落了其理想和精神家园。21世纪的现代大学应努力秉承、发展和弘扬兼容并蓄、追寻自由等人文精神传统, 积极担当起在这个忧虑和希望参半的新时代里给予人类以信心和能力的重任。
Abstract：
Science is nourished by humane spirit and culture. However, science is ready for extreme expansion into scientism and instrumentalism which may lead to the fading of the humane spirit and modern education of the modern university. Modern university should, therefore, inherit the humane spirit in the 21st century.
