The Contemporary Value of Moral Education Tradition
摘要/Abstract
德育传统不仅仅属于过去,而且内存于现实之中,与现实有着血肉的联系,具有一种不断改造与发展的连续性。从德育传统的发展历程来看,共经历了从孕育、初步形成、形成、发展到衰微变革五个时期。首重德育是我国古代的优良传统;追求理想人格是德育传统的主要内容、途径和方法;德育传统具有规范学校教育、稳定和促进社会发展、延续文化传统、培育中华民族精神和塑造中华民族典型人格特征五大功能。取其精华,弃其糟粕,变革和继承中国德育传统并对之进行创造性转化,构建具有中国特色的社会主义德育传统具有重要的历史作用,也是德育传统的当代价值。当前,我国学校工作必须把德育置于首位;培育理想人格;优化德育模式;重视设计政治、思想、道德规范三位一体的德育内容体系;弘扬中华民族传统美德;丰富德育内容;将德育视为培养学生知情意行的实践;重视探索德育原则和方法;注重自我道德修养。总之,只有对中国德育传统进行创造性转换,中国德育传统的当代价值才能真正得以体现。
Moral education tradition is not merely a relic of the past but remains intrinsically embedded in the present, maintaining a dynamic and evolving continuity. Historically, the development of moral education tradition can be categorized into five distinct phases: emergence, initial formation, consolidation, expansion, and subsequent decline and transformation. In ancient China, moral education was accorded paramount importance, reflecting a longstanding pedagogical tradition. The pursuit of ideal personality constituted the core content, primary pathway, and fundamental methodology of this tradition. Furthermore, moral education tradition has served five key functions: regulating formal education, stabilizing and advancing societal development, preserving cultural heritage, fostering the Chinese national spirit, and shaping the distinctive character of the Chinese people. To realize its contemporary value, it is imperative to critically engage with China’s moral education tradition by retaining its essence while discarding outdated elements, thereby facilitating its creative transformation. Such an endeavor is vital for constructing a socialist moral education tradition with Chinese characteristics. In the current educational landscape, schools must prioritize moral education, cultivate ideal personalities, and refine pedagogical models. Additionally, there should be an emphasis on designing a tripartite content system integrating political, ideological, and ethical norms, alongside promoting traditional Chinese virtues. More essential measures include enriching the substance of moral education, framing it as a holistic practice that nurtures students’ cognition, emotion, volition, and behavior, exploring effective principles and methodologies, and emphasizing self-cultivation in moral development. In conclusion, only through the creative transformation of China’s moral education tradition can its contemporary value be fully actualized.
