John Dewey’s Educational Life: A Lifelong Dedication to the Ethos of Teaching
摘要/Abstract
在漫长的教育人生中,西方教育大师、美国教育家约翰·杜威真正践行了教育家精神。作为一个在教育上完全献身的教师,他毕生奉献全人类最高尚的教师职业;作为一个始终追求教育真谛的教育改革者,他精心阐释理想的教育、学校和教师;作为一个具有思想家眼光的学者,他注重教育研究中的批判和自我批判;作为一个有重要影响的教育家,他积极推动其教育思想的世界传播,但最大的教育影响在中国。要而论之,对于中国的教育改革和发展来说,当我们面对现实的教育问题时,可以从杜威教育思想中寻觅他的智慧。
John Dewey, a leading figure in Western education and an influential American educator, exemplified the ethos of the educator throughout his long and distinguished career. Fully committed to education as a noble vocation, Dewey dedicated his life to the advancement of teaching and the betterment of society through education. As a pioneering educational reformer, he articulated a vision of ideal education, schools, and teachers, consistently striving to uncover the deeper meaning of education. Dewey’s scholarly approach to education emphasized critical reflection and self-criticism, promoting a dynamic and evolving understanding of pedagogy. His educational ideas not only gained global recognition but had their most profound impact in China, where they significantly influenced educational reform. In the context of China’s ongoing educational transformation, Dewey’s thought provides invaluable insights and wisdom that continue to address the challenges faced in contemporary education.
