A fundamental work in the study of the renowned university presidents in the People’s Republic of China (PRC) is to investigate the demographic characteristics of these presidents. This work will review the group characteristics of the renowned university presidents, carry forward the legacy of these educators， and provide a reference for cultivating educator presidents. The growth, development, and success of these university presidents are influenced by natural variables such as gender, era, birthplace, and age; related to social variables such as ethnicity, social status, and social experience; related to economic variables such as occupation and remuneration; influenced by educational variables such as education level and field of specialization， and also affected by political variables such as political position, term of office and manner of appointment. The 47 renowned university presidents in the PRC demonstrate the following demographic characteristics: unremitting fighters for self-renewal, revolutionaries who progress with the changing times, hard-working educators who lead a simple life, grand masters in teaching, and staunch patriots.
