“学而愈明”:《论语》的“学习”智慧及其当代创生

Learning Wisdom of The Analects and Its Modern Creation

摘要:

《论语》关于“学习”的思想十分丰富。“学习”中“学”的含义是“日知其所无”的过程,即获取新知识技能的理论知识过程;“习”的含义是“月无忘其所能”的过程,即通过及时地不断地反复地复习、温习、练习,使已经学到的知识更加牢固、技能更加娴 熟的行为实践过程。“学”“习”二字连用构成今天“学习”一词,整合了“学”“习”二字的全部含义,指既包括理论知识接受和实践行为训练,也包括学校教育生活、家庭伦理生活、社会政治生活和朋友交际生活等全部活动过程,是人类用来解决其在现实情境中所 面临的各种亟需处理的复杂问题、战胜各种困难时所表现出来的高超智慧,即最佳行为方式及其状态,具有促进个体发展、充盈个体生命、获取物质利益、获得社会文化等多重价值。学习的内容是文行德统一,态度是志好乐结合,方法是思行习并用。《论语》所阐发的 学习智慧是一种大学习观,具有很强的适切性,对当代学习仍具有多重价值,应当吸收当代理论,赋予当代内涵,融入当代实践,才能保持其理论张力,实现其创造性转化和创新性发展。

Abstract:

The Analects is rich in thoughts on learning. “Learning” (Xue Xi学习) refers to two related words or characters with different meanings, “Xue” and “Xi.” The meaning of “Xue” is the process of “knowing what you don’t have every day,” that is, the process of acquiring new knowledge and skills. The meaning of “Xi” is the process of “never forgetting what one can do within one month,” that is, through repeated review and practice in a timely manner to consolidate the learned knowledge and become more skillful therein. The word “learning” today refers to not only theoretical knowledge acceptance and practical behavior training, but also the activity processes in school education life, family ethical life, social and political life, and networking with friends. It is the superb wisdom that human beings use when they solve various complexities and overcome various difficulties that need to be dealt with urgently in real situations. It is the best way of behavior and its state with multiple values, such as promoting individual development, attaining the fullness of individual lives, obtaining material benefits, and obtaining social culture. The content of learning is the unification of cultural knowledge, conduct and morality. The attitude for learning is a combination of devotion, fondness and enjoyment. The method for learning is to use thinking, practice and practical application. The learning wisdom expounded in The Analects is a great learning concept with wide applicability and strong relevance, which still has multiple values for contemporary learning. We should incorporate contemporary theories into it, give it contemporary connotations, and apply it to contemporary practices to maintain its theoretical tension and realize its creative transformation and innovative development.
