To promote the sustainable development of andragogy, it is highly necessary to put forward the discipline of andragogy history, which is an interdisciplinary subject taking the andragogy existing in history as its research object. It falls under both history and education. Its objective is to record and explain the history of the development of andragogy, understand the internal logic of the development of andragogy, provide reference for the development of andragogy, and promote the theoretical innovation of andragogy. The history of andragogy helps to improve the sub-disciplinary system of andragogy, and reflect on how mature and well-established the discipline of andragogy already are. At the same time, it helps to examine the development of andragogy from a historical perspective, guide the andragogy discipline construction from a reflective perspective, and promote the practice of andragogy activities. In the research of the history of andragogy, we should make comprehensive use of textual and non-textual historical materials, follow the principles of the unity of history and logic and the unity of whole and part, and use the three-dimensional systematic methodology.
