The establishment of applicationoriented teaching system is the core of the application transformation of local undergraduate universities. Based on the data of a national teacher survey conducted by the Institute of Education Economics of Peking University in 2017, this study analyzes the influence of local undergraduate universities’ organizational transformation strategies and types on applicationoriented teaching. Findings are as follows: the transformation philology and corresponding measures at university level have significant impact on teachers’ applicationoriented teaching through the college or department level. Compared with the organizational transformation strategies at university level, such factors as the application orientation at the college and department level, the recognition of the teachers, the resource guarantee to practical teaching and training, the practical teaching management, and teacher evaluation in colleges and departments, are the keys to improve the applicationoriented teaching in transforming universities. For transforming universities, it is more difficult to improve the application complexity of curriculum than to obtain employment. The colleges have a better performance in applicationoriented teaching when indepth transformation was made in both university and college levels.
