Historical Review and Prospective of Student Mobility between China and India in the Context of Belt & Road Initiative

摘要/Abstract

摘要：

改革开放以来，中国与印度之间的留学生教育发展，由于受地缘政治和外交关系的影响，具有来华留学规模大、专业集中，赴印度留学规模小、发展潜力大的特点。在“一带一路”倡议背景下，充分认识中印教育交流的重要性，大力发展两国间的双向留学生教育，一方面加大支持赴印度留学力度，推动两国高等院校的直接合作，有利于促进各领域急需的专业人才培养；另一方面，给予高校必要的自主权，在吸引更多印度学生来华学习的同时，不断提高印度来华留学生教育质量，有助于提高我国高等教育的国际竞争力。

Abstract：

Since the reform and opening up,the history of student mobility between China and India was very much associated with the geopolitical and diplomatic relations.China has received quite a large number of Indian students majoring in limited areas of study.By contrast,there have been fewer Chinese students studying in India,which indicates a great potential for development.It is necessary to understand the importance of educational exchange and to support student mobility between the two countries in the context of the Belt and Road Initiative.On the one hand,it is conducive to the cultivation of urgently needed professionals in various fields by supporting students to study in India and through direct communication between the higher education institutions of the two countries; on the other hand,it will make Chinese universities more competitive in the global higher education market by allowing more flexible policy for Chinese universities to have more autonomy so as to attract more Indian students through high quality education.
