Cultural dilemma to build Chinese world-class universities
摘要/Abstract
摘要：
关于中国如何创建世界一流大学,学术界有4种观点:指标体系说、目标跟踪说、排行榜说和时间表说。这些观点尚停留在"口号"阶段,都未触及到世界一流大学的文化本质。世界一流大学在本质上都是文化大学,有文化方成一流大学。对于中国大学而言,以宁静寂寞的心态凝练大学理念、倡导学术自由、培养创新精神、增强文化自信方为创建世界一流大学之道。
Abstract：
Four assumptions are popular for China to build the world-rate universities,namely,index system,target tracking,list of ranking and schedule,but none tells the essence of culture.In fact,the world-rate universities are all culture-oriented.Where there is culture there is world-class university.Consequently, it is the only way to build a world-class university in China through honing of the academic freedom, creative spirit,self-confidence and state of mind.
