Can the school curriculum get reduced but still remain the same?

摘要：
这是查尔斯·埃利奥特1888年2月在美国全国教育协会督学部会议上发表的演讲。埃利奥特从中学与大学衔接的角度,分析了美国中学存在的学生课业负担过重、学习时间过长的原因,通过与法国中学课程的比较研究,提出应缩减中学课程内容,并扩大和丰富中学课程的主张。此演讲稿的发表直接促成1892年全国教育协会“十人委员会”的成立。
Abstract：
This paper is an address by Charles Eliot to the American National Association of Education Supervision in February 1888 to concentrate on the overloaded home assignments and overlong studies of the high school students compared with French high school curriculum. He further proposes that the curriculum get reduced but remain as fruitful as before. The consequence is the founding of the 10-people committee of the National Education Association in 1892.
