Research Progress of Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphate Aldolase

Abstract

Abstract:

Fructose-1, 6-bisphosphate Aldolase (FBA) is an important biological enzyme in the glycolysis pathway. It catalyzes the cleavage of the substrate fructose-1, 6-bisphosphate into glyceraldehyde 3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate or the reverse aldol condensation reaction. In this article, we mainly introduced the classification of FBA and its function, such as participation in the metabolism of organisms, as a plasminogen binding protein, as a host cell adhesion binding agent, transcription regulator and so on.Moreover, the application of FBA in anti-fungal drug targets and anti-pathogen vaccines were also summarized. Therefore, this article aims to provide basic information for the in-depth research of FBA in the future.
