Before the May 4th Movement, Chen Dux iu has proposed a hypothesis of moral ruling to save the country f rom destruction, since he believes that moral backw ardness of the feudal China is to result in the social misfortune, and that the personal deg eneration is to cause the racial calamity. He further for the new ethics to take the place of the old one, combine the traditional with the western, and improve Chinese contemporary personal mode. And he also puts forw ard w ith specific ways of education and demonst rat ion so as to remodel the new civilians in the lights of the new ethics in China.
