The so-called white policy is a state policy of racial discrimination peculiarly adopted in the Australian immigration since the establishment of the federal government in 1901. The focus of the policy is to see that Aust ralia is under the sole cont rol of the whites. However, over the past 70 years since the enforcement, the policy has undergone different phases of harshness , leniency, and death. Consequently, the writer of this paper believes it is ext remely significant to understand the history of the white policy, for the sake of the Sino-Aust ralian relationship.
