Yao Wendong and the defense in Yunnan-Burmese border
摘要/Abstract
摘要：
姚文栋是晚清近代外交的早期研究者和实践者。他出洋游历, 外交眼界开阔, 于海防危机之外, 较早洞悉中国滇缅边防的战略地位和潜在危险。为此, 他实地查勘滇缅边界, 积极献策滇缅边界防务, 务实推动中英滇缅边界谈判的成功实现, 维护了国家和民族的利益。
Abstract：
Yao Wendong is a researcher of modern diplomacy of late Qing dynasty. He used to travel frequently abroad before becoming a diplomat owing to his open mind and intelligent handling of the international crises. Hence, he develops his prudent and preventive diplomatic strategies to handle the Chinese-Burmese border crises, safeguarding the interests of Chinese people.
