In the development of the discipline of arts studies and the construction of the “three systems” within its various subdisciplines, including musicology, there remain practical problems arising from inadequate understanding, commitment to, and implementation of both “disciplinary institutions” and “social institutions.” Against the backdrop of advancing the thought and practice of Chinese modernization, and based on a critical reflection on the current state and implications of constructing the “three systems” of musicology and ethnic minority music, this study proposes an ontological epistemological perspective grounded in the development of “Chinese musicology” and its “three systems.” It advocates a sustained commitment to the disciplinary position of arts studies within the framework of socialism with Chinese characteristics, together with comprehensive strategies and approaches for advancing disciplinary development.These efforts should continuously promote the construction of the “three systems” of Chinese musicology in ways that genuinely strengthen China’s independent capacity for knowledge production, knowledge-system development, knowledge-value formation, and disciplinary influence.
