The norms currently emphasized by the academic evaluation system—whether at the macro level of research, review, and management, or at the micro level of content, technique, and ethics—have not yet fully incorporated the emotional dimension that academic outcomes should carry. This foundational deficiency directly results in a large number of works that are stylistically dry and substantively lacking in warmth and resonance. The creation and recognition of academic outcomes are essentially a process in which the researcher’s creative intellectual activity generates emotional resonance and value identification with reviewers, editors, and readers. Therefore, truly excellent academic outcomes are not mere statements of fact or logical inference; they are infused with the researcher’s genuine emotions and embody the humanistic sentiments of “truth, goodness, beauty, love, and benevolence.” In constructing an operable framework for evaluating emotion, four aspects need to be considered. First, the researcher’s emotional engagement should be assessed, including their value stance within research methods, personal expression in writing style, and sincerity and reverence in academic innovation. Second, the cultural emotion and academic orientation implied by the main title and subtitle of the work should be analyzed. Third, it is necessary to examine whether the theme and main content reflect a genuine problem-awareness born of authentic concern, and whether the articulation is undertaken with a sense of responsibility in the spirit that “writing conveys the truth.” Fourth, attention should be paid to the narrative art of the opening and closing sections—whether they form an emotional loop in the textual structure, and whether they engage readers and provoke deeper reflection. Incorporating the norm of emotion into the evaluation system will help guide researchers to re-embrace humanistic warmth while maintaining rationality and rigor, thereby producing more academic works that are both meticulous and moving, and providing intrinsic momentum for building a more vibrant academic ecology in China.
