The Child as Mirror:Self-Reconstruction and Narrative Construction in Modern Chinese Children's Literature
摘要/Abstract
晚清以来,“儿童的发现”重构了现代文学的知识体系,并通过叙事实验催生了作家自我认知的转型。已有研究多关注中国现代儿童文学的观念史或文体特征,却忽视了作家通过“双重叙事身份”(成人/儿童意识的互渗)重塑自我主体性的努力。鲁迅、老舍、茅盾等众多作家在儿童小说翻译、创作中对语言及叙事惯性的突破,印证了想象“理想读者(儿童)”与叙事形式的内在关联,以及以“他者化”的儿童镜像来实现自我启蒙,并最终建立和完善“新人”的现代表达。这一新的作者/读者关系深刻体现出现代作家探索中国化叙事形式的不断尝试,也为现代时期“人的觉醒”议题提供了另一种解释路径。
Since the late Qing Dynasty(1644-1912),the“discovery of the child”has restructured theknowledge system of modem literature and,through narative experimentaion,catalyzed a transformation inwriters'self-perception.Existing studies have predominantly focused on the intellectual history or stylisticfeatures of modern Chinese children's literature,often overlbooking wnters’efforts to reconstnuct their ownsubjectivity through a“dual narrative idenity”—the mutual pemeation of adult and child consciousness.Theinnovations in language and narative conventions in children’s fiction,as evidenced in the ranslations andwritings of authors such as Lu Xun(鲁迅),Lao She(老舍),and Mao Dun(茅盾),demonstrate theintrinsic connection between imagining the“ideal reader(the child)”and narrative form.This process reflectshow writers utilized the child as an extemalized"other"to achieve self-enlightenment,ultimately establishingand refining modem expressions of the “new person.”This new author-reader relationship profoundly illustratesmodem writers'ongoing attempts to explore a Sinicized narrative fom,while also offering an alternativeexplanatory pathway for the theme of"human awakening"in the modern era.
