The Stylistic Representation and Developmental Characteristics ofHyper-Realistic Virtual Humans in the Digital-Intelligence Era

Abstract

Abstract:

Riding on the momentum of the metaverse,hyper-realistic virtual humans have transitioned froma niche artistic form into a popular virtual cultural phenomenon, thereby constructing a new landscape of digitalvisual culture.Hyper-realistic virtual humans are not created in a vacuum.Their artistic form, which pursuesrealistic simulation and quasi-vitality,is closely related to the developmental lineage of realistic virtual humansinfluenced by photorealism, representing a form of digital realistic art with a technologically generated style inthe digital-intelligence era. They have transformed the static bodily expression characteristic of earlier virtualhumans under the influence of photorealism.Through the mediating effect of the virtual avatar, they form avirtual aesthetic characterized by the technological embedding of the body and the screen-based embedding ofvision, reflecting the visual style of the technological body within a posthuman context.Leveraging the technicalffordances of database-navigable spaces,hyper-realistic virtual humans foster an imagined community forGeneration Z.However, under intelligent replication mechanisms, they may also risk falling into a certainstylistic formula,a tendency that requires critical analysis within specific cultural practices.
