On Chinese Calligraphy as a“Logos Art”
摘要/Abstract
中国书法的艺术标准似乎是客观的、恒定的,那就是以“二王”和晋唐为则的价值系统,几近一尊“逻各斯神像”岿然不动,只等待信众膜拜它、走近它而从未有过实质性改变。这个标准的背景是以儒学为宗的价值观,“不激不厉”等中庸思想已经浸入到书法大众的骨髓,成为民族审美文化性格的鲜明表征。由此反观当代“探索书法”,其解构“书法逻各斯”的意图是明显的,但其观念与方法有待检讨。
The artistic standards of Chinese calligraphy appear objective and enduring, represented by the value system derived from the canonical models of Wang Xizhi, Wang Xianzhi, and the calligraphic traditions of the Jin ( 266-420 AD) and Tang ( 618-907 AD) Dynasties. This system stands almost as a monolithic idol of Logos, remaining fundamentally unchanged and awaiting reverence and emulation rather than substantive transformation. Its foundation lies in a Confucianoriented value system, where principles such as “avoiding excess and maintaining restraint” have permeated the collective consciousness of calligraphic practitioners, becoming a distinctive marker of the nation’s aesthetic cultural character. Examining contemporary “exploratory calligraphy” in this light, its intention to deconstruct the “Logos of calligraphy” is evident, yet its underlying concepts and methods warrant further critical examination.
