Japanese aesthetics, Indian aesthetics, and Arabic-Islamic aesthetics constitute three principal traditions of Eastern aesthetics, each possessing profound historical legacies and rich intellectual resources. Contemporary Anglophone scholarship demonstrates distinctive emphases in its engagement with these traditions: Yuriko Saito’s research exemplifies cutting-edge interpretations of Japanese aesthetics, Kalyan Sen Gupta and colleagues advance critical reappraisals of Indian aesthetics, while Oliver Leaman and collaborators pioneer new approaches to Islamic aesthetics. Examining these three major research paradigms within the context of intercultural integration and contemporary internationalization of Eastern aesthetics provides significant scholarly value and serves as a crucial reference for advancing Chinese scholarship in this field.
