The report of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China lists “the Supremacy of the People” as the world outlook and methodology of Xi Jinping’s socialist thought with Chinese characteristics in the new era. It is the theoretical achievement of the modernization of Marxism in China. Marxist historical materialism is its theoretical source; the ideological achievements of several generations of leaders of the Communist Party of China are its historical genes; and the great changes in the past decades are the basis of reality. “The supremacy of the people” is a multilevel scientific system. Development is for the people, which means taking the people’s position, taking their aspirations for a better life as our goal, and ensuring that power is always used for the happiness of the people. Development relies on the people, affirming that the people are the creators of history, material and spiritual wealth, and the fundamental force that determines the future and destiny of the Party. The fruits of development are shared by the people, which is to ensure that the people are the masters of the country, find the greatest common denominator of the wishes and needs of the whole society, and ensure that no one is left behind on the road to the happiness of the people. “The supremacy of the people” is the fundamental value of our party in practicing the mass line in the new era. The key to keep pushing forward is to know the wishes of the people, pool the wisdom of the people, strengthen institutional guarantees, and steadily promote common prosperity
