In some dialects of the Chinese language, preposition and postposition of degree adverbs co-occur for one word, such as “忒葛小猛” and “太大猛” in Wu dialect, “太小很喽” and “太热很了” in Hui dialect, “太厉害很了” and “太懂事很了” in Gan dialect, “太好很着” and “太高很了” in Jianghuai Mandarin, and “太瘦很了” and “太咸很了” in Southwest Mandarin. This phenomenon also occurs in some ethnic languages in the South. The prepositional and postpositional co-occurrence of degree adverbs embodies the iconicity of cognitive linguistics, the principle of “the more forms, the more contents” and the characteristics of “excess.” Some of them are based on historical reasons, and some are attributed to dialect or language contact, which is of typological value.
