Stupefaction of Ah Q’s Spiritual Victory:On Wan Ying Magazine and Zhang Yizhang’s The Comic Story of Ah Q
摘要/Abstract
1937年张义璋连载于《万影》杂志的《阿Ｑ画传》32图，参与了经典小说的阐释与传播。在《阿Q画传》中，张义璋以线描为人物造像，在构图中，他常常以夸张的方式描绘人物，突出人物之间的冲突或矛盾。另外，他还以阿Ｑ个人特写式的描绘，凸显出阿Ｑ精神胜利的麻木心态。与叶浅予插图的《阿Ｑ正传画册》12图相比较，张义璋的《阿Q画传》呈现出不同的风貌与构图。虽然张作存在着一些不足，但比较早地对鲁迅小说《阿Q正传》进行了图像阐释，推进了其经典化的进程，从而成为该经典作品图像阐释历程中不可忽略的一部连环画作品。
In 1937, Zhang Yizhang (张义璋) serialized The Comic Story of Ah Q (《阿Ｑ画传》) with 32 pictures in Wan Ying (《万影》) magazine, participating in the interpretation and dissemination of the classic novel. In The Comic Story of Ah Q, Zhang Yizhang makes portraits of characters with line drawing. In the composition, he often depicts characters in an exaggerated way, highlighting the conflicts or contradictions between characters. In addition, his close-up depiction of Ah Q highlights the Stupefaction of Ah Q’s Spiritual Victory. Compared with the 12 pictures in A Picture Book of The True Story of Ah Q (《阿Ｑ正传画册》) illustrated by Ye Qianyu (叶浅予), Zhang Yizhang’s The Comic Story of Ah Q presents a different style and composition. Despite the shortcomings in Zhang’s works, his early image interpretation has promoted the canonization of Lu Xun’s novel The True Story of Ah Q， hence becoming a comic book that cannot be ignored in the process of the image interpretation of this classic work.
