Song Lian, a writer known as the "head of the civil officials in the founding of the Ming Dynasty," has made great achievements in prose. However, some of his proses are often regarded as classical Chinese novels by later scholars. This is not only related to the concept of novels in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, but also because Song Lian's biographical prose itself has some characteristics of traditional novels, some can even be read as novels. Specifically, it can be examined and analyzed from several aspects, such as the record of Song Lian's proses in novel bibliography since Ming and Qing Dynasties, the narratives of Song Lian's prose in important modern novel history works, and the selection of Song Lian's proses in classical Chinese fiction anthologies. This will enable us to have a more comprehensive and clear understanding of the multiple attributes of Song Lian's biographical prose from a new perspective.
