Lu Xun has devoted great efforts to collecting and researching "ancient steles". The May 4th New Cultural Movement plunged him into the emotional entanglement of abandonment and retention of "ancient steles". His experience with ancient steles left some impressions on his literary works, which could be seen from the images of hell and ghost. In ancient steles, he sees the ruins and graves of those without steles. He was determined to write biographies for them. In the process, Lu Xun shows extraordinary ability to transform from old culture to new culture.
