Good and Bad Influences of Funerals on Society in the Han Dynasty
摘要/Abstract
丧事作为汉代社会的重要内容，具有多方面的影响。从家庭角度看，丧事打乱了正常的生活生产节奏，消耗了家庭财富，对家庭发展有推动或阻碍作用。从死者人际关系看，死者的亲朋、乡邻等相关人员奔丧送葬，以及向丧家赠送财物助丧，可能占用工作时间，增加日常支出，此外，死者的妻妾、仆役可能为其殉葬。从国家角度看，厚葬劳民伤财，促使国家制定律令制度以纠正丧葬行为，同时，丧事带动了市场经济发展，对维护统治具有积极作用。总之，汉代丧事的影响具有双重性，有利亦有弊，是社会发展过程中不可忽视的内容，对其展开研究，可为全面认识汉代社会生活提供相应参考。
As an important part of social life in the Han Dynasty (202 BC-220 AD), funerals have influences in many aspects. From a family perspective, funerals disrupt the normal pace of life and production, consume family wealth, and have a promoting or hindering effect on family development. From the perspective of the interpersonal relationships of the deceased, it may take work time and increase daily expenses for the relatives, neighbors, and other related personnel to attend funerals, as well as give gifts to the bereaved family to assist in the funeral. The deceased’s wife, concubines, and servants may also be buried alive with the deceased. From the perspective of the state, burials that harm the people and their wealth encourage the country to establish laws and regulations to correct funeral behaviors. At the same time, funerals drive the development of the commodity economy and have a positive effect on maintaining governance.
