Wuchang uprising and orientation of the public opinions by Eastern Times

摘要：
晚清以降，《时报》在上海乃至全国声名鹊起。武昌事起，该报密切关注时局，刊发大量报道评论。起初，多数报人仍持立宪主张，报中多含劝慰清廷惩办首恶、更换内阁等语，主笔陈冷则直言政府覆灭无可避免。清廷一意孤行，先前对革命认知矛盾的报人最终站队革命，并操觚染翰为之谋划。国际社会在武昌起义期间的表现，《时报》亦有高度关注并予以评介。此间，报人甘作毛瑟，力求新闻真实，积极引导舆论，发挥了“论政救国”的作用。
Abstract：
Shanghai Eastern Times grows famous nationwide at the decline of Qing dynasty through publishing reports and comments regarding Wuchang uprising. While reporters claim transitions and reforms on the monarch and its cabinets, Chen Leng, the chief editor disagrees, insisting on that the government be overturned. In addition, Eastern Times also leads the opinions to explorations of salvation of the nation and truly commenting on the revolutionary event.
