Theory of respectfulness and cultivation of the Cheng brothers
摘要/Abstract
摘要：
“敬”是中国儒家思想中的重要范畴之一，二程的“敬”工夫论是修身养性的根本方法，体现了宋代理学道德修养论的特色，对中国伦理文化影响很大。二程在日常的伦理纲常实践中，修养侧重有所不同，程颢注重内心体验，程颐则严肃恭敬、专注于对天理的体认。
Abstract：
Respectfulness falls into the category of Chinese Confucianism. The Cheng brothers hypothesize that the respectfulness is the fundamental of self-cultivation. This embodies the characteristics of ethical cultivation in Song dynasty. In their daily practices of ethics, Cheng brothers have varied focuses. Cheng Hao pays attention to the inner experience while Cheng Yi is focuses on the recognition of heaven to pinpoint the self-discipline and self-consciousness.
