Abstract:
With the flourish of the contemporary American writing in the 1950s and 60s, there have been scores of first class Jewish American writers who have written widely acclaimed fictions and have shown no signs of a decline in the amount or quality of their work. Furthermore, some of them have been included in the lists of the most gifted writers on the postwar literary scene. This thesis, presented in three major sections known as the American Adams in Search of New Garden of Eden, the Plight of Alienation, and New Tendency of the Young Jewish Writers, provides a basic clue to the understanding of Jewish writing as cultural movement in the United States, laying its focus on the new tendency of Jewish American writing.
