实用主义与美育的“落地性”——兼论蔡元培“以美育代宗教”的当下省思--[在线阅读]

摘要
百余年前,“以美育代宗教”说以其独特的原创性和启蒙性,在中西结合、古今融通的基础上开启了重建国民信仰的坐标系,成为当时社会文化运动的一部分,在一定程度上奠定了中国现代美学精神的实用主义致理思路。今天,美学思想的整体性滞后、美育实施过程中的功利主义倾向以及美育理论与实践的脱节等问题,向当代美育提出了新的挑战。而实用主义美学,尤其杜威的“艺术功用论”思想,为我们走出美学的“非功利性”惯识、实现美育的“落地性”提供了丰富的理论资源。基于此,从实用主义视角重新回望与反思蔡元培先生百年之前的美育命题,实现当代美育的生活论转向,不啻为美育未来发展的新路径。

Pragmatism and the Practicality of Aesthetic Education: A Current Reflection of “Replacing Religion with Aesthetic Education”

Abstract:
In the past hundred years, the idea of "replacing religion with aesthetic education," with its originality and enlightening nature, provided a frame of reference for rebuilding the national belief on the basis of a reconciliation of the ancient and the modern, the Eastern ideas and the Western thought. As a part of the social and cultural movement at that time, to a certain extent, it laid a pragmatic rationale for Chinese modern aesthetic spirit. Today, the generally outdated aesthetic thoughts, the utilitarian tendency of aesthetic education and the disconnection between aesthetic education theory and practice pose new challenges to contemporary aesthetic education. Pragmatic aesthetics, especially Dewey's "functional theory of art," provides us with abundant theoretical resources to get rid of the "non-utilitarian" aesthetic belief and realize the practicality of aesthetic education. Therefore, it is a new path for the future development of aesthetic education to look back and reflect on Cai Yuanpei's aesthetic education proposition one hundred years ago from the perspective of pragmatism, and orient the contemporary aesthetic education toward the discussion of life.
