Abstract:
Regarded as the novelist's "by-product", the short fictions have long been the marginal part of Virginia Woolf's canon and analyzed only as experimental ground for her novels. She writes short fictions throughout her literary career, which plays the equally important role. A survey on the literature and the exploration of the inner causes can provide an important insight into her innovative approach to writing. In addition, a study of her short fictions can enlarge one's understanding and appreciation of Virginia Woolf's work as a whole.
